It’s funny – I think sometimes I have a slightly obsessive personality where if I put together a list of things I need to do and then feel the need to finish it. Such as my goal of finishing the top 100 things to eat in SF, or this cookbook. So when we were looking through the cookbook, we decided to go with making 2 items for breakfast and 2 for dinner. This is the drinks part of our breakfast cold brew.
I mean, I’ve had tons of cold brew before – mostly at Blue Bottle or even Starbucks, but this time we wanted to go with something different so I got some Philz. We actually get Philz coffee on a regular basis from their cafes so decided to get their beans to make cold brew. Recipe is pretty simple and we made it the night before.
- Make it in a wide lipped container. We decided to go with an empty bottle and it made the process a lot more difficult putting all the ingredients.
- Have a lot of ice on hand – we didn’t have enough and just used a lot more cold water we put into the freezer.
- Have a good filter – makes it easier to filter the grinds out of the cold brew when you drink it.
Otherwise, great easy recipe! Can’t wait to make it again for many more breakfasts.
