This dish was surprisingly easy to make. The dish in the book required just a few ingredients – sourdough bread, ham, gruyere, and eggs being the main ones
We ended up getting the ingredients the day before and the morning of, I spent most of the morning preparation time grating the cheese. The sauce was a little time consuming, but not overly so. Otherwise, the dish just needed to be put under the broiler.
We ended up making these into more of a croque madam rather than the croque monsieur. The eggs we made were perfectly over easy (or at least mine was) since that’s how I wanted them, oozy and delicious.
Easy dish. A bit too dairy heavy for me, but still good.
