Baking: Blueberry Pound Cake

Choosing a book to cook every single recipe out of has been difficult, but I love Alton Brown so I decided on his newest cookbook – EveryDayCook. It just has so many different items in it – baking, cooking, and some alcoholic drinks as well.  I’m hoping this will force me to cook more often and be able to document it as well here.  Continue reading “Baking: Blueberry Pound Cake”

30 by 30: Walt Disney World

My friends and I planned this trip for after one of our busiest times at work. We knew we needed to get away for a few days from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco and to the hustle and bustle of an amusement park. We wanted to do two of the parks at least and I ended up going to three of the parks at Walt Disney World and then Universal as well.  Continue reading “30 by 30: Walt Disney World”

#firstof27dresses: Wedding!

One of my close friends from high school decided to get herself married on July 3rd. I have so many fond memories – mostly from high school when we really became a lot closer. There are a ton of memories of baking cakes at my house – maybe that’s where my love from baking started or just other small things. At the rehearsal and the actual wedding, I’ve seen how much she’s changed and grown since we were in high school.  She’s become such a beautiful person and I missed part of that transformation. I’m so glad I’m back in her life now and able to experience the wedding with her.  Continue reading “#firstof27dresses: Wedding!”

30 by 30: Hot Air Balloon Ride

This was one of the most spontaneous trips I’ve taken. Normally, I’m a type of person to plan everything out before I get to a city and have places I want to go to, or things I want to do each day. Busy season (it’s seriously never ending) and my trip to Chicago had taken a lot out of me so all I had planned was a flight and a hotel room for the weekend. 30 by 30: 20 Michelin Stars

I enjoy beautiful foods. At most of these Michelin starred places, they take presentation and flavor into consideration. Some of my favorite restaurants have been at these places because they wait on you hand and foot and give you everything you expect from a fine dining experience. I also love to be able to try multiple courses and they portion the dishes out in smaller portions so I can do so. I’ve eaten at more than these if we were going to use current stars, but I decided to just use the amount of stars when I ate at these locations. Continue reading “30 by 30: 20 Michelin Stars”

30 by 30: 100 Things to Eat in SF Before You Die – Completed!

It seems like a strange goal to have (and I know it is), but the 7×7 magazine always put out this amazing looking list and I knew one of my goals when I was first putting my list together would be to try and complete the entire list in the year.  They have a new list yearly, but I thought it would be a very ambitious goal to eat all the restaurants within the year.  There are definitely some places I have been to before this year, but most of places were completed and eaten in this year. I do have some favorite restaurant and dishes, and there are some dishes definitely didn’t deserve a top 100 spot in my mind. It was a lot of fun trying to finish a list of things, but definitely took over my life.  I’ve told my friends I’m never allowed to do these lists again because they’re time consuming and expensive. I’m definitely not made out of money, but it definitely was a fun adventure to have to try these places in  San Francisco.
